40-Day Christmas Challenge | Day 2 • What’s in Your Gift Closet?

Christmas Challenge 2025 • Hero Image • Day 2

Ever buy the perfect gift… then forget where you put it? You’re not alone. Somewhere out there, hiding behind a stack of wrapping paper or under the guest bed, is a present you swore you’d “remember later.”

Let’s fix that.

Day 2: What’s in Your Gift Closet?

Today’s challenge is simple but satisfying: take inventory of your hidden treasures.

Pull out every gift you’ve tucked away… those clearance finds, impulse buys, and “I’ll save this for someone” gems, and see what you’ve got. Decide who each item is for, or at least narrow down your options. And if that little voice tells you it’s not as great a gift as you once thought, don’t second-guess yourself. You saw potential in it for a reason. Trust that.

Then wrap, tag, and check it off your list. Nothing feels better than progress, especially when it comes with a little less clutter and a lot more peace of mind.

Action Step

  • Locate your gift closet, bin, or drawer (bonus points if it’s been a while).
  • Take inventory. Note who each gift could be for, or leave a few unassigned for flexibility.
  • Wrap and tag what you can now to get ahead.
  • If you find something you’d forgotten about, jot it down so it doesn’t vanish again.

The Art of Re-Gifting

Let’s be honest. Sometimes re-gifting gets a bad rap, but when done right, it’s actually a thoughtful and sustainable way to share something new with someone who’ll love it.

The trick is knowing how to do it well. Avoid passing along anything personal or worn, and keep track of who gave you what (no one wants a “return to sender” situation).

When it’s done with care, re-gifting saves time, money, and maybe even a last-minute shopping trip. Check out The Ultimate Guide to Proper Re-Gifting for a few friendly guidelines →

Why It Matters

Getting organized now saves you from the frantic “I know it’s here somewhere!” scramble later. You’ll cut down on duplicate buys, stay within budget, and keep your sanity intact when the holiday rush hits.

Think of it as a little pre-season peace, a small effort today that buys you breathing room tomorrow.
