Everyday Cheapskate - Christmas Challenge 2025 - Day 40

40-Day Christmas Challenge | Day 40 • Celebrate Authentic Joy

Everyday Cheapskate - Christmas Challenge 2025 - Day 40

We made it… Day 40! Whether you’re waking up to Christmas morning or simply wrapping up your 40-day journey, take a moment to let that sink in. You’ve spent the last several weeks preparing your heart, home, and mind for a calmer, more meaningful season. That’s something worth celebrating.

Years ago, someone once teased me about being a “Grinch” because I don’t equate holiday joy with overspending or overdoing. The truth is, that story of the Grinch is exactly what taught me what real joy looks like. It’s not about gifts or glitter, but gratitude, growth, and the people we share them with.

If you’d like to reflect along with me, grab a cozy drink, settle in, and listen to the message I recorded just for this final day.

Day 40: Celebrate Authentic Joy

Today’s challenge is beautifully simple: celebrate the kind of joy that doesn’t come in a box. The quiet, genuine kind that shows up when you take a deep breath, look around, and realize how much you already have.

Action Step

  • Look back over the past 40 days. What moments surprised you with joy? What new habits or realizations do you want to carry forward?
  • Whether out loud, in writing, or in your heart, give thanks for the people and moments that made this season special.
  • Reach out to someone you love. Share a meal, send a message, or just be fully present. Connection multiplies joy.

If you need a little nudge, revisit The Grinch Who Stole Christmas. Its message still rings true: joy isn’t something we can buy or lose. It’s something we grow.

Why It Matters

The most meaningful joy doesn’t shout. It hums quietly through gratitude, love, and peace. When we stop chasing “perfect” and start noticing “enough,” the holiday season shifts from pressure to presence. That’s the real magic.

I love you too, Mary!!! Thank you for reminding us that Christmas is, first and foremost, about JOY!!! I’ve done a lot of reflection in these 40 days and simplified my approach this year. I am far less stressed than ever before. THANK YOU!!!
