As botanicals go,  Creeping Charlie is a remarkable specimen because it’s easy to grow and produces little purple flowers. But any plant is considered a weed if it grows where it is neither wanted nor enjoyed. In your lawn, for example.

Mention Creeping Charlie to anyone who works tirelessly for a well-manicured lawn, and you’ll likely get a loud, agonizing groan. It’s that bad. I get it. But hang on. I have good news for you and hope this is just the good information you need.

Toilet bowls develop discolorations for many reasons that have nothing to do with the quality of the housekeeping. In most cases, the toilet ring results from hard water conditions and water standing in a toilet that doesn’t see a lot of use.

While many commercial products out there promise to remove hard water stains in the toilet, ordinary household pantry items you already have can be just as effective—and much cheaper—to rid your toilet of the dreaded toilet ring without harsh chemicals.

The many, many ways to use Hydrogen Peroxide was my favorite post. I was amazed at how versatile this inexpensive product could be! Thanks Mary for your your wonderful column! I saw you speak at a conference at Krannert Center more than 15 years ago. You were so inspiring! I actually went home and worked out a plan to get out of debt ($50,000 +) It took me over 10 years but when my husband & I retired we were completely debt free! It was so exciting to feel free of that burden. Now, with our pension, we travel! Thank you so much.
