Equipment

  • 1 16-oz. spray bottle
  • funnel optional
  • Sponge or microfiber cloth

Ingredients

  • 2 tspn borax
  • 1 tspn washing soda
  • 8 oz very hot water
  • 1 tspn Blue Dawn Ultra dishwashing liquid
  • 8 oz warm water
  • ¼ tspn lemon essential oil
  • ½ tspn orange essential oil
  • ¼ drops cinnamon essential oil
  • ¼ tspn clove essential oil

Instructions

  • Add borax and washing soda to your spray bottle. Carefully pour in the very hot water and shake until mostly dissolved.
  • Remove the spray top and add dish soap and essential oils.
  • Fill the bottle with warm water, leaving about 1 inch of space at the top.
  • Replace the spray top and gently shake to combine. Avoid over-shaking to keep suds under control.
  • Spray onto bathroom surfaces including sinks, tubs, toilets, tile, and fixtures. Let sit for 1–2 minutes, then wipe clean with a sponge or cloth. Finish with a slightly damp microfiber cloth for a clean, polished look.

Notes

Skip the scrubbing marathon: Letting the cleaner sit for a minute or two does most of the heavy lifting for you.
Essential oils are optional: They add a pleasant scent, but the cleaner works just fine without them.
Avoid natural stone: Not recommended for granite, marble, or other delicate surfaces.
Label your bottle: Especially if you keep multiple DIY cleaners on hand.
Store safely: Keep out of reach of kids and pets.
