Homemade Hot Fudge Sauce

This hot fudge sauce is so easy to make ... and it can be ready in under 20 minutes!

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ cup white, granulated sugar
  • ½ cup Light Corn Syrup like Karo or Lyle's Golden Syrup (See NOTE)
  • ¼ cup heavy cream or evaporated milk
  • tspn coarse kosher salt
  • 1 ½ tbpn unsalted butter
  • ½ tspn vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Mix together all the ingredients in a saucepan except for the vanilla. Heat over medium heat, stirring continuously until the mixture reaches a full boil.
  • Let the mixture boil briskly for 3 minutes, giving it an occasional stir. Afterward, take it off the heat and blend in the vanilla.
  • Allow to cool slightly before serving. The sauce can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 monthTo Reheat: Microwave for 30-second increments, stirring after each, or until pourable but still thick.

Notes

Lyle's Golden Syrup is a suitable substitute for corn syrup and can be found in most supermarkets these days and also online.
