Holiday Gift Guide for Foodies

holiday-gift-guide-foodies

Yes, another Holiday Gift Guide, and not so much because I love creating these guides for you (I do!) but due to popular request. And if it wouldn’t have appeared to be overly self-serving, for sure I would have titled this Guide something like my favorite Best Inexpensive really awesome kitchen things that foodies of all levels are sure to love as much as I do.

1. Pizza Stone for Grill and Oven

Finally, a pizza stone that is not so fragile I have to worry about it cracking under extreme conditions (I must be super hard on pizza stones because I have broken more than a couple)! First, it is extra thick at 3/4″. And heavy (thank you Amazon for Prime shipping). But here is the most amazing thing—guaranteed to withstand up to a whopping 1000 degrees F. Culinary Couture Pizza Stone for Grill and Oven will not crack! I leave mine on the bottom shelf of my oven at all times, which makes for easy storage, but also makes it convenient for baking bread as well as chicken, shrimp, and cookies, too. About $40.

2. Egg Rings

What a great idea, really. These Non-Stock Fried and Poached Egg Rings are perfect, too, for pancakes and anything else you want to come out round! Also comes in a heart-shaped option.

3. Precision Batter Dispenser

If this OXO Good Grips Precision Batter Dispenser isn’t just about the best thing on earth, I don’t know what is! It precisely dispenses batter for pancakes, cupcakes, crepes and more—with no mess because it has a—ta-da!—shut-off valve. Lid doubles as drip tray between squeezes. And with the wide opening and precise measurements on the side, this is your mixing bowl and measuring cups all in one. (Does not come with additional items shown, the muffin pan and silicone cups.)

4. Mixing Bowl Set

New from the makers of Fiesta ware, these beautiful mixing bowls with lids that are stainless steel on the inside, plastic on the outside. Those colors! Fiesta Mixing Bowl Set is the set every foodie has been looking for, I’m just sure of it.

5. Chef’s Knife

A great knife at a decent price—not easy to find. But found this Mercer Culinary Millennia Chef’s Knife has been! At a fraction of the price of anything comparable in terms of quality and usefulness, this knife gets thousands of 5-star reviews.

6. Bread Knife

Call all breadbakers—whether you’re into 5-Minute Artisan Bread or something that takes much more time. This. Is. The. Knife. you want handy when you cut into those beautiful loaves. Mercer Culinary Millennia 10-inch Wide Bread Knife will not tear fresh bread apart even if it is still warm (who can wait until it has cooled for at least two hours?!).

7. Salt Cellar

Made from beautiful acacia wood, this beautiful salt cellar gives any foodie instant access to ay kind of salt. It swivels open conveniently. Closed, it protects contents for freshness. And so charming, Ironwood Gourmet Appalachian Salt Cellar looks great when left out on the stove or counter.

8. Colander Spoon

Look what I found at the intersection of Cute and Useful—Ototo Mamma Nessie Colander Spoon! Just keep in mind that cute should not be the sole reason to buy anything for the kitchen. That this colander spoon is probably one of the most useful things ever imagined makes its cuteness a bonus and another reason that every foodie would love this. BPA-free, Mamma Nessie makes cooking more enjoyable!

9. Nesting Measuring Beakers

Talk about a space-saver, this set of measuring “beakers” includes all the likely sizes any kitchen might ever need—including 1-teaspoon! All of the beakers nest for compact storage, have flat stable bases and easy-to-read markings. OXO Good Grips 7-Piece Nesting Measuring Beaker Set is dishwasher safe, too.

10. Spiralizer

I was late to this game, but have now conceded. Big time. It’s not a fad, not a come-on for late-night-TV viewers. A spiralizer is a great way to get kids to eat veggies (zoodles are just spiralized zucchini) for starters. But so much more. The Ultimate Spiralizer 7 comes with extra blade caddy and Recipe Ebooks with so many awesome ideas and directives. This is it, my fellow foodies!

11. Mortar and Pestle

I have just one complaint about the typical mortar and pestle. Stone. I can’t stand to touch the rough, unfriendly surface of a typical mortar and pestle. That’s why I love the Bekith Mortar and Pestle Set—it’s made of brushed stainless steel! Perfect for grinding spices, bruising herbs and all other small crushing needs that come up in the kitchen.

I like homemade and store bought gifts. I think that homemade gifts take effort and that is appreciated, but sometimes something store bought can be just as thoughtful and meaningful.

On the entry page, it says leave a blog comment (homemade gifts are more memorable) but there was no blog on that page, at least not with kindle fire browser.

I prefer something homemade over a store bought item. Home made is always made with love, no matter what it is. <3
