I love gadgets—anything that is clever, innovative, useful and reasonably priced. Gadgets make great gifts, especially when totally unexpected. I just love it when one of my kids or my husband opens a gift with a spontaneous, “Wow that is so cool!”

For your entertainment pleasure and perhaps a gift solution or two, I’ve put together this short list of gadgets, gizmos and electronic devices that are all the buzz this holiday season because they’re so cool!

regarding your instapot recommendation- read the reviews on Amazon of people who’ve bought that particular model- breaks quickly and mfr does not honor 1-year warranty. I ended up buying a different make because of that.

Mary was reading your column in the OCALA STAR BANNER, the newspaper of Ocala, Florida on 12/1/17. There was a recipe for a Laundry Stain Remover made with 1 cup of household ammonia + 1 cup white vinegar, and 1 cup liquid laundry detergent, mixed in a one quart container. When ammonia, which is a base, is mixed with vinegar, (also known as acetic acid), which is an acid, are mixed the chemical reaction is the formation of ammonium acetate which is neutral, (non-reactive), and water. Any time a base and an acid are mixed the result is the production of a non-reactive salt and water and in this particular reaction some heat. Therefore the “cleaning” that your reader saw was the sole action of the laundry detergent. Please send this reader your recipe using only blue Dawn which really works. thank you, Robert Hood, rbrt.hood@gmail.com
