Super Inexpensive Chromebook Laptop Gets Another Rave Review Plus More Reader Feedback

Somedays I stare at my email inbox the way a meteorologist stares at a barometer. While the meteorologist counts on his barometer to forecast the weather, I look to my email inbox to measure and predict your reactions and feedback.

You might recall a recent post on how to use up every last bit of a rotisserie chicken. I have to admit that my thoughts were on how to use up all of the chicken meat. About 10 minutes after that post hit, my inbox started going crazy. I got hundreds of responses scolding me for failure to include making stock from the chicken carcass. Whoops!

A post on a type of very inexpensive laptop brought another tsunami-strength wave of mail—this time from happy, satisfied readers turned Chromebook fans.

Dear Mary: I think you must read my mind. I’ve been meaning to write to ask if you had a dish towel recommendation. Our home seems to be filled with luxurious dish towels from high end home furnishing stores that might look good, but they cannot wipe up a single stain. How is it someone could create cloth that is completely non-absorbent? I’ve gotten tired of dish towels that look nice but can’t even dry your hands. I am purchasing a set of the Utopia “bar mops” today—the ones you recommend so highly. Sounds like they are exactly what I need. Please keep reading my mind! Bronson

Dear Bronson: You are not going to be disappointed! I have 5 dozen of these perfect small-ish kitchen towels and I use them with abandon—like many people use paper towels. It’s nothing for me to go through 8 or 10 while preparing and cleaning up a single meal. I have a small hamper in the kitchen and I just toss them in. When it’s full, I launder them in hot water and detergent with 1/2 cup of white vinegar in the final rinse to remove all of the detergent. That keeps them soft and fluffy. About once a month I add bleach to keep them white. I can’t wait to hear back with your review.

Dear Mary: What is the best way to get our 5th wheel trailer clean? We are in the Pacific Northwest and over the winter moss likes to grow on the fiberglass exterior. Thanks! Laurel

Dear Laurel: There is a product called Wet and Forget that is a moss, mold, mildew and algae stain remover. It comes highly concentrated. Once diluted with water and sprayed on the target,  it gets to work. Then each time it rains (which it does a lot where you live, right?) Wet and Forget‘s safe cleansing combination gently removes the moss, mold and mildew without scrubbing or rinsing! It really does work. The good news is that Wet and Forget does not contain bleach or toxins; it is non-caustic and non-acidic. That makes it safe to use in areas where there may be children and pets and or vegetation!
