A New Name for Our Best Inexpensive Cordless Stick Vacuum

I’ve got news! But first a little story.

Faithful readers know that in my spare time, I love to knit. And I when I say love, let’s just say I’m a serious knitter. Don’t mess with my yarn.

Natural woolen yarn and knitting on vintage wooden background.

Running out of yarn is every knitter’s fear. For me, it’s more of a nightmare. It’s that time that I ran out of yarn with one sweater sleeve still to go. No problem, I thought. I’ll just go back to the yarn shop and pick up what I need to finish.

That’s when I came face to face with the dreaded word, “Discontinued.” My heart sank. Apparently, I’d waited a year or two too long to get this project on the needles and finished. There wasn’t a scrap of the exact yarn I needed anywhere on the planet. I checked.

Ever since, if a pattern calls for say 8 skeins of yarn, I buy 10 while fighting the urge to make it 12. Just in case.

It’s been about a month now since I learned that our beloved Eufy Cordless Stick Vac has been discontinued. I couldn’t believe it and hoped that what I’d heard was only a rumor.

I contacted the company and got a quick reply confirming my worst fears. Eufy has been discontinued. The company is going full steam ahead with its Eufy RoboVac instead, which we love, but will never replace its cordless stick vac.

How could they do this? Eufy stick vac has been one of my favorite gifts, especially for a house-warming or friend who’s fallen in love with my Eufy.

My heart sunk. All I could think was that I should have purchased 10. Or 12. Just in case.

And now for the good news!

Several days of all-out research led me to consider several alternatives. Within a week I’d narrowed it down to just one. I waited patiently for a Deik Cordless Stick Vac to arrive.

Deik Cordless Stick Vac

I’ve been using my new Deik now for a few weeks and wow. It is Eufy all over (twins separated at birth?!) but with a couple of added improvements.

First, Deik has nearly identical features when it comes to the swivel head, LED headlights, lightweight at about 5.5 pounds, mighty 28.8v lithium-ion battery; excellent run time with a battery gauge—and super easy to clean.

Deik, like Eufy, has excellent suction—perhaps even better than Eufy’s ability to pick up pet hair, crumbs, dust, dirt and debris from hard surface floors and the surface of low-pile carpet. If you’ve never used a Eufy, you just don’t know what you’re missing!

I love these two new features on my new Deik—two handholds.

Handholds Deik Stick Vac

The first is a perfect-sized handle on the dust cup. I’m embarrassed to say that nearly everytime I empty the dust cup on my Eufy, I drop it. There’s nothing to hang onto. Deik has a handy handhold and what a great improvement.

The second is the loop-type handle at the top which makes it so easy to lift and carry Deik.

I can assure you that my Eufy—the one I use at least twice a day and do all I can to keep it happy by emptying the dust cup routinely, cleaning the filter and giving it a bath—has not been discontinued!

After nearly two years of use, my Eufy is going strong. My love has not wavered and I look forward to its long and happy life ahead.

And now Eufy has a friend. His name is Deik!
