40-Day Challenge Day 11

Feeling a little short on Christma cash? Every evening deposit all the coins in your pocket or purse into a central collection spot. Ditto for your one- and five-dollars bills. Make this a family affair and you’ll accumulate cash even faster.

Listen …

Not one to carry cash? There are other ways to trick yourself into saving. When you use your debit card, opt for cash back. Make a stop at the ATM each day and withdraw a small amount. Not stash it immediately when you get home. Go through your drawers, purses, pockets, under seat cushions in the house, seats in the cars in search of lost coins. You may be happily surprised by what you find!

We all keep our change and put that change in little banks for my three grandchildren. When the banks were full, I took all of that into the bank and they set up Guardian savings accounts for them.
The money will be available to them when they are 18 and they can do whatever they wish. The credit union I placed the money in also gives them classes on how to handle money etc at age 13.
Also, the bank was absolutely thrilled to have over $100 in change, and I felt like I’d lifted weights!

I love the idea of saving chane and small bills every day. My husband started it with change, as he hated to have the weight of a bunch of coins in his pocket in the morning. Every 3 months or so, we would count and roll the change, and it became our “mad money”. We usually used it for fun experiences or travel. We also added unexpected money, like rebate checks, a COLA payment from work, etc. We even opened a savings account for it, called “P&P Fun Money.” Really added up fast.

Whenever your e-mail contains something newsy, I am not able to continue reading it as I am not able to open the “rest of the story” — my computer? or is there a glitch?

You’re not the first with the problem. I’m confused it’s not a glitch, but an overloaded page. I’m going to chat with my web guy. In the meantime, I have a work around so keep trying. Should be fixed in a few hours, so please retry.

UPDATE: I think I fixed it! Will you and all others seeing this go try now? Here is the link: News You Can Use November 2023

If the page loads and you can read it, success! If not please let me know … mary at everydaycheapskat dot com.
